The pros and cons of installing black boxes in cars – rozprawka [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

It has been known for a long time that car is one of the most comfortable and the fastest means of transport. Unfortunately, the more cars on the roads are, the more car accidents happen. That is why young drivers are encouraged to install black boxes in their vehicles which will inform if they drive carefully or not. There is no doubt that this solution has its advantages and disadvantages.

First of all, thanks to the black boxes there will be less car accidents for sure. Drivers will avoid getting fines, so they will drive more slowly and carefully. What is more, they will be rewarded for their behaviour on the roads and will not have to pay high insurance rates. As a result, more and more drivers will make an example of careful drivers and all cyclists, pedestrians and other drivers will feel much safe on the roads.

However, there are also some disadvantages of this solution. Installing black boxes can be quite expensive and it can take a lot of time. Consequently, some drivers who are poor and busy will not decide to put them in. Furthermore, black boxes will not guarantee that reckless drivers will be punished. They can try to cheat or even destroy their black boxes to hide evidence.

To sum up, installing black boxes has its pros and cons. After all, it seems to be a really great solution. It will surely make drivers and pedestrians feel safer.

How to solve the problem of ageing of the society? The idea of voluntary cooperation – rozprawka [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

Nowadays many countries try to solve the problem of ageing of the society. For instance, people who live on the Wight Island come up with an idea of a voluntary cooperation – if you take care of elderly people for an hour, you will get an hour of care in the future. There is no doubt that this idea has a lot of advantages and disadvantages.

First of all, a voluntary cooperation is important for elderly people, especially for those who are ill or disabled. Most of them need special medical treatment almost 24 hours a day. Thanks to the volunteers, they do not have to worry about problems with their health.

Secondly, this solution is great for young people who do voluntary work. They do not have to be afraid that they will be left alone when they become old and ill. If they work a lot, they will provide a safe and calm future for themselves.

However, there is a risk that a volunteer will lose his ‘hours of care’ when he will die unexpectedly. Furthermore, when somebody do not have any time to do voluntary work, he will have to pay for the treatment.

To sum up, the actions which are taken to fight against a problem of ageing population have some pros and cons. They seem to be equally beneficial for volunteers and elderly people, but some of them may not be able to take advantage of them.

The pros and cons of sending elderly parents to nursing homes – rozprawka [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

Nowadays people are constantly busy and focused on their career. That is why more and more of them decide to send their elderly parents to nursing homes. In my point of view this option is worth considering, but it also has some disadvantages.

First of all, nursing homes are places where elderly people can get special medical treatment. It is especially important for people who are ill, disabled and require a lot of care and attention. Nursing homes are also suitable for people who are in a good shape. They provide plenty of interesting activities, so elderly people do not feel bored.

Secondly, this option is good for people who put their ageing parents in nursing homes. They do not have to be afraid that something will happen to their parents when they are away. Furthermore, they do not have to stay with their parents for 24 hours a day, so they can live their own life and advance their career.

However, nursing homes are considered to be very sad places. Elderly people who live there sometimes think that their families do not need them. As a result, they feel sad, lonely and depressed.

To sum up, putting elderly parents in nursing homes is an idea which has some pros and cons. Nursing homes provide professional medical treatment, but they also separate old people from their families.

The idea of abolishing armies – rozprawka [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

It has been known for a long time that war is extremely dangerous, destructive and causes death of hundreds of innocent people. That is why more and more people think that all the armies should be abolished. I agree with them, but their idea has some advantages and disadvantages too.

First of all, as I have said before, every war leads to destruction, suffering and death. If countries did not have armed forces, they would not be able to trigger a war. In case of a conflict the authorities will have to use peaceful means. As a result, citizens will feel safer.

Secondly, holding an army can be really costly. The authorities have to spend money on modern and expensive weapon, military equipment and training. If armies were abolished, the authorities would save a lot of money. The saved money could be spent on public health or economic development.

On the other hand, there is a risk that most of the countries will abolish their armies and some of them will hold armies in secret. In case of a war the countries which do not have armed forces are not able to protect their citizens and fight. Therefore the army is a guarantee of safety and peace.

To sum up, abolishing armies can help us to avoid wars and military conflicts. However, we should remember that this idea involves agreement and cooperation between all the countries.

Stress at work - how can it be reduced? - rozprawka [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

Nowadays everyone tries to be the most dutiful worker. People are focused on achieving successes and getting promoted to a high office. As a result, they have to function under stress what is really harmful to their health. So how can stress be reduced?

First of all, employers should take care of their workers. Workers often feel exhausted and stressed, because employers require too much of them and they are not able to deal with their duties. Employers should praise workers if they work hard, give them bonuses and reduce their duties if it is possible. Consequently workers will believe in themselves and will not feel stressed.

Another way to reduce stress is creating a place where workers could get relaxed. It can be a small room with plenty of comfortable armchairs and sofas. Employers should allow workers to have a break there. Spending a few minutes in this relaxation room would make workers calm and peaceful.

Alternatively, employers should let their workers listen to the music at work. For example, workers can switch a stereo system on and listen to their favourite music or classical music. This kind of music will reduce stress and even make them more hard-working and concentrated.

To sum up, there are a lot of ways to reduce stress at work. Employers should know these methods, because stress is really harmful to people’s health.

The pros and cons of studying abroad - rozprawka [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

Nowadays more and more young people who graduated from secondary school decide to study abroad. They consider studying abroad to be a great chance, so they become eager to leave their country. There is no doubt that this option has its advantages and disadvantages.

To begin with, studying abroad is a good opportunity to improve language skills. We can not only learn new languages at school, but also talk to native speakers and learn correct pronunciation in this way. We can also discover foreign cultures, customs, lifestyle and point of view of new people. What is more, studying abroad gives a chance to have a better future. Students who know foreign languages and have a certificate of a prestigious university can easily find a satisfying and well-paid job.

However, there are also some disadvantages of studying abroad. If people leave their home and move to another country, they feel alone and homesick. It can be really difficult for students to meet new friends, especially when they are shy and unsociable. Furthermore, studying abroad is rather expensive. Students have to pay school fees and rent, buy coursebooks and tickets. Because of it, not every student can afford to study in a different country.

To sum up, studying abroad has its pros and cons. It gives students a chance for a better future, but it can also involve paying a lot of money and make students feel homesick.

The pros and cons of keeping animals in captivity - rozprawka [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

We can no longer imagine life without some types of entertainment such as visiting zoos. We can see there plenty of exotic, wild animals. Some people consider keeping animals in captivity to be cruel. But in my point of view this solution has a lot of advantages, even for animals.

Firstly, visiting zoos is an entertainment for people of all ages. We can admire there colourful parrots, dangerous reptiles and so on. We have also a great opportunity to learn about wildlife, animals’ behaviour and see rare, unusual species.

What is more, keeping animals in captivity can be even good for them. People who work in the zoos are able to provide them fresh food, water and medical treatment. Animals surely feel safe and calm, because there are not any dangerous carnivores and hunters. Furthermore, keeping animals in captivity is the best way to control and protect endangered species.

On the other hand, there is no doubt that animals have feelings and enjoy freedom. If they are kept in captivity, they do not have necessary space and sometimes have to live in uncomfortable cages. In addition, it is not always easy to provide proper conditions for animals – for example, wild animals from Africa would not feel good in polish zoo because of the cold climate.

To sum up, keeping animals in captivity has its disadvantages. After all it is a good solution to protect animals from dangers and to educate and entertain people.

The pros and cons of studying via the Internet - rozprawka [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

Nowadays more and more people decide to study in a quite unconventional way. They do not go to the university, but choose to study via the Internet. There is no doubt that this option has its advantages and disadvantages.

To begin with, studying via the Internet is surely very comfortable. Students do not have to take part in classes and listen to boring lectures. They can stay at home, sit on the soft couch and simply study if they feel like doing it. It is also a great solution for people who have a job or look after their children. If they are too busy, they can start learning anytime they want. Furthermore, studying via the Internet makes it possible to become a student of a university in a different city or country. Students do not have to go abroad to finish a prestigious school, they can stay in their home towns.

However, there are also some disadvantages. Firstly, students have no possibility to meet new people. They cannot talk about their interests, spend their free time with them or exchange ideas. In addition, they become unsociable and reserved. What is more, studying through the Internet can make the students undisciplined. They do not have any motivation to learn, so they can even ignore their studies.

To sum up, studying via the Internet has its pros and cons. It can be an amazing experience, but it can also turn out to be worse than conventional studying.

How can people get a work experience? – rozprawka [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

Nowadays it is difficult to find a job. Employers avoid signing employment contracts with people who have just finished school. If you want to get a satisfying job, you should have a work experience. So how can people get this necessary and important experience?

One way to get a work experience is attending special courses. For example, if you are going to work in a restaurant, you should think about joining a course for cooks. You will learn there how to prepare and serve tasty dishes. The courses surely help to improve necessary skills and get a work experience.

Another way to gain experience is taking a part – time job before applying for a permanent employment. This kind of job can be taken during summer holidays or at the weekends. You can work as a babysitter, pick fruits, cut the grass and so on. By doing so, you will learn responsibility and doing your duties.

Alternatively, working as a volunteer would be a great solution. You can join a charity organisation which care for poor people or orphaned children. This is a specific kind of work: even if you work hard, you will not get any money. But it will surely help you to gain work experience and probably make you more sensitive and full of empathy.

To sum up, there are a lot of ways to improve your chances to get a satisfying job. Attending a course or working as a volunteer – it will help you to gain experience for sure.

Complaining about the hotel – list formalny [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

Dear Sir,

I am writing to complain about the hotel in which I stayed two weeks ago. Despite being one of the most luxurious hotels in the city, it turned out to be disappointing.

I was especially unsatisfied with my hotel room. It was not fully-fitted. There was no lamp on the bedside table so it was impossible to read books in the evening. The radiations was broken and it was really cold in the room. What is more, there was no soap and towels in the bathroom and the tap in the washbasin was constantly dripping.

I would also like to express my disappointment with the quality of the food in the hotel restaurant. The dishes were cold and simply tasteless. When I ordered an apple pie, I got a stodgy and greasy cake which I could not eat. Furthermore, the service was impolite and rude. When I asked the waiter for exchanging the apple pie for something else, he shouted at me and ordered me to stop complaining and start eating my cake.

My stay in the hotel was a very unpleasant experience and I would like to get all my money back. I would also appreciate it if you could improve the standard of the hotel.

I am looking forward to your response.

Yours faithfully,

XYZ

Expressing concern about increased traffic in the centre of the town – list formalny [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

Dear Sir,

I am writing to express my concern about increased traffic in the centre of the town. There is no doubt that it has adverse effect on environment and local people.

Increased traffic in the town is associated with terrible noise and pollution. Cars and other vehicles which are driven every day produce car fumes which pollute the air and nearby rivers. As a result, plenty of rare animals and plants are endangered. What is more, air pollution is extremely harmful to people who suffer from lung diseases. In addition, terrible noise and pollution discourage traders from running their own businesses, so it is very damaging to the local economy.

It is very important to find a proper solution of this problem. To avoid car fumes emission, you may encourage drivers to use unleaded petrol or leave their cars and choose different means of public transport. You may also consider building noise barriers, but I think that the best idea is building a road around the town for cars and lorries.

I would appreciate it if you could do everything in your power to solve the problem of increased traffic in the heart of the city. It is important to find a solution which will make our town less noisy and polluted, but more attractive for traders and local people.

Yours faithfully,

XYZ

Applying for the position of a shop assistant in the souvenir shop – list formalny [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

Dear Sir,

I am writing in connection with your advertisement in a local daily newspaper. I am very interested in applying for the position of a shop assistant in your souvenir shop.

I am 19 years old and I have just graduated from secondary school, so I am able to work long hours. I have computer and language skills. I lived in Germany for 2 years, so I can speak German fluently.

I have experience in working as a shop assistant. Last summer I got my first part-time job in a local bookshop. What is more, I sometimes help my friend’s parents in running their own grocery store.

I think I have a lot of qualities which are proper for the job. I consider myself as a very friendly, kind and helpful person. I always try to help people and give them good advice. I am also sociable and outgoing. I enjoy meeting and talking to other people and I get on well with others. Furthermore, I am honest and responsible, so you do not have to be afraid that something in the shop can be stolen.

I would appreciate it if you could consider my job application. I am enclosing a CV and a letter of reference from my previous employer.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Expressing concern about development of tourism in the town – list formalny [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express my concern about development of tourism in my town. The amount of tourists has been falling for a few years and it makes me worried.

In my opinion, people avoid visiting my town, because it is very noisy and polluted. There are too many cars which pollute the air. What is more, the town becomes unattractive for most people. I suppose that almost everyone has seen our old, boring museums and art galleries. Visiting them for the second time would not be exciting, so no one wants to see them. Furthermore, tourists are always angry when they realise that there are not any nice guest houses to stay in.

I think that it is important to draw tourists’ attention by creating some new attractions. Firstly, you have to build new art galleries which would not be boring. People also need a new theatre or cinema – it is necessary not only for tourists, but for inhabitants too. You should also solve the problem of increasing traffic by building a road around the town. The most important thing is creating new places to stay in, such as luxurious hotels and cosy guest houses.

I am sure that these actions would help to increase the amount of tourists in the town. I hope you would do everything in your power to make tourists visit my beautiful and worth seeing town.

Yours faithfully,

XYZ

Protesting against building a multi-storey car park – list formalny [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

Dear Sir,

I am writing to protest against building a large parking with several floors for cars. There is no doubt that drivers would be pleased with the new parking, but for some reason I think you should consider finding an alternative location.

According to the plans, the parking will be built on the outskirts of the town, where a lot of people spend their spare time and rest. Local people visit it to have a picnic or simply talk to their friends. There are plenty of trees, shrubs and flowers too, so it is one of the best places to get relaxed after a hard day at work. That is why the parking should not be built here.

What is more, the park is children’s favourite place to spend time after classes. They play on the children’s playground, climb trees, play team sports, such as football or volleyball. If the parking were built there, the children would become bored and sad.

In addition, building this multi-storey car park will be surely associated with destruction of the beautiful area. As a result, destroying a lot of trees and flowers will effect negatively on wildlife.

I would appreciate it if you could reconsider your decision and give up the idea of building a huge parking for cars.

I am looking forward to your response.

Yours faithfully,

XYZ
