Complaining about the hotel – list formalny [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

Dear Sir,

I am writing to complain about the hotel in which I stayed two weeks ago. Despite being one of the most luxurious hotels in the city, it turned out to be disappointing.

I was especially unsatisfied with my hotel room. It was not fully-fitted. There was no lamp on the bedside table so it was impossible to read books in the evening. The radiations was broken and it was really cold in the room. What is more, there was no soap and towels in the bathroom and the tap in the washbasin was constantly dripping.

I would also like to express my disappointment with the quality of the food in the hotel restaurant. The dishes were cold and simply tasteless. When I ordered an apple pie, I got a stodgy and greasy cake which I could not eat. Furthermore, the service was impolite and rude. When I asked the waiter for exchanging the apple pie for something else, he shouted at me and ordered me to stop complaining and start eating my cake.

My stay in the hotel was a very unpleasant experience and I would like to get all my money back. I would also appreciate it if you could improve the standard of the hotel.

I am looking forward to your response.

Yours faithfully,

Expressing concern about increased traffic in the centre of the town – list formalny [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

Dear Sir,

I am writing to express my concern about increased traffic in the centre of the town. There is no doubt that it has adverse effect on environment and local people.

Increased traffic in the town is associated with terrible noise and pollution. Cars and other vehicles which are driven every day produce car fumes which pollute the air and nearby rivers. As a result, plenty of rare animals and plants are endangered. What is more, air pollution is extremely harmful to people who suffer from lung diseases. In addition, terrible noise and pollution discourage traders from running their own businesses, so it is very damaging to the local economy.

It is very important to find a proper solution of this problem. To avoid car fumes emission, you may encourage drivers to use unleaded petrol or leave their cars and choose different means of public transport. You may also consider building noise barriers, but I think that the best idea is building a road around the town for cars and lorries.

I would appreciate it if you could do everything in your power to solve the problem of increased traffic in the heart of the city. It is important to find a solution which will make our town less noisy and polluted, but more attractive for traders and local people.

Yours faithfully,

Applying for the position of a shop assistant in the souvenir shop – list formalny [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

Dear Sir,

I am writing in connection with your advertisement in a local daily newspaper. I am very interested in applying for the position of a shop assistant in your souvenir shop.

I am 19 years old and I have just graduated from secondary school, so I am able to work long hours. I have computer and language skills. I lived in Germany for 2 years, so I can speak German fluently.

I have experience in working as a shop assistant. Last summer I got my first part-time job in a local bookshop. What is more, I sometimes help my friend’s parents in running their own grocery store.

I think I have a lot of qualities which are proper for the job. I consider myself as a very friendly, kind and helpful person. I always try to help people and give them good advice. I am also sociable and outgoing. I enjoy meeting and talking to other people and I get on well with others. Furthermore, I am honest and responsible, so you do not have to be afraid that something in the shop can be stolen.

I would appreciate it if you could consider my job application. I am enclosing a CV and a letter of reference from my previous employer.

I am looking forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully,

Expressing concern about development of tourism in the town – list formalny [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to express my concern about development of tourism in my town. The amount of tourists has been falling for a few years and it makes me worried.

In my opinion, people avoid visiting my town, because it is very noisy and polluted. There are too many cars which pollute the air. What is more, the town becomes unattractive for most people. I suppose that almost everyone has seen our old, boring museums and art galleries. Visiting them for the second time would not be exciting, so no one wants to see them. Furthermore, tourists are always angry when they realise that there are not any nice guest houses to stay in.

I think that it is important to draw tourists’ attention by creating some new attractions. Firstly, you have to build new art galleries which would not be boring. People also need a new theatre or cinema – it is necessary not only for tourists, but for inhabitants too. You should also solve the problem of increasing traffic by building a road around the town. The most important thing is creating new places to stay in, such as luxurious hotels and cosy guest houses.

I am sure that these actions would help to increase the amount of tourists in the town. I hope you would do everything in your power to make tourists visit my beautiful and worth seeing town.

Yours faithfully,

Protesting against building a multi-storey car park – list formalny [język angielski/liceum/poziom rozszerzony]

Dear Sir,

I am writing to protest against building a large parking with several floors for cars. There is no doubt that drivers would be pleased with the new parking, but for some reason I think you should consider finding an alternative location.

According to the plans, the parking will be built on the outskirts of the town, where a lot of people spend their spare time and rest. Local people visit it to have a picnic or simply talk to their friends. There are plenty of trees, shrubs and flowers too, so it is one of the best places to get relaxed after a hard day at work. That is why the parking should not be built here.

What is more, the park is children’s favourite place to spend time after classes. They play on the children’s playground, climb trees, play team sports, such as football or volleyball. If the parking were built there, the children would become bored and sad.

In addition, building this multi-storey car park will be surely associated with destruction of the beautiful area. As a result, destroying a lot of trees and flowers will effect negatively on wildlife.

I would appreciate it if you could reconsider your decision and give up the idea of building a huge parking for cars.

I am looking forward to your response.

Yours faithfully,

XYZ
