Nowadays people are constantly busy and focused on
their career. That is why more and more of them decide to send their elderly
parents to nursing homes. In my point of view this option is worth considering,
but it also has some disadvantages.
First of all, nursing homes are places where elderly
people can get special medical treatment. It is especially important for people
who are ill, disabled and require a lot of care and attention. Nursing homes
are also suitable for people who are in a good shape. They provide plenty of
interesting activities, so elderly people do not feel bored.
Secondly, this option is good for people who put their
ageing parents in nursing homes. They do not have to be afraid that something
will happen to their parents when they are away. Furthermore, they do not have
to stay with their parents for 24 hours a day, so they can live their own life
and advance their career.
However, nursing homes are considered to be very sad
places. Elderly people who live there sometimes think that their families do
not need them. As a result, they feel sad, lonely and depressed.
To sum up, putting elderly parents in nursing homes is
an idea which has some pros and cons. Nursing homes provide professional
medical treatment, but they also separate old people from their families.
